For teachers

Check how a text was written. In a minute.

Open the .closed file or the PDF your students hand in: Closed Lite tells you whether the signature is valid, how long it took to write, whether anyone tried to paste or dictate, and lets you replay the writing.

Verification panel
The verification panel, open next to the document.
Replay window
The replay: what was just typed in yellow, what is deleted in red.
Step by step

From the file to the decision.

Receive the work

The .closed file or the hand-in PDF, which carries the signed document inside, by email or through the school platform.

Open it

With Closed Lite. It checks the signature and the record before showing it, and opens it read-only.

Read the panel

Signature status, author, time, sessions, deleted characters, blocked attempts and exits from the program.

Replay it

Watch the writing at ×25 or ×50 and stop at the flagged moments.

How to read it

What the panel and the replay tell you.

Valid signature (green)

The document and its record have not been changed outside Closed Lite, and the record reproduces the text exactly.

Document tampered with (red)

The signature does not match or the text does not come from what was written in Closed Lite.

Natural writing

The text grows in bursts, with pauses to think, deleted words and rewritten sentences.

Signs of copying

Text that grows without pauses or corrections at a steady pace, as if copied from another screen, especially after an exit from the program.

Blocked attempts

Orange markers show attempts to paste, drag or dictate. Look at what was written right after.

Several sessions

Blue markers show the start of each session, with the name set at that moment.

Hand-in PDF

A .closed file or a PDF. Both can be verified.

Many platforms (Moodle, Classroom, Teams) only accept PDF or Word. That is why, when saving, the student chooses between the .closed file and a PDF that opens in any viewer and carries the signed .closed document inside, as an attachment. Its first page is a cover with the student's data.

  • Open the PDF with Closed Lite: it takes out the signed document and verifies it. What you see comes from that document, not from the pages, and the panel tells you whether the text of the pages matches it.
  • The annotations or watermarks that Moodle, Classroom or Teams add to the PDF do not affect the verification.
Verifying a hand-in PDF
A hand-in PDF open in Closed Lite: the document inside and whether the pages match it.
Marking a hand-in PDF
Marking the PDF: highlight, strike through, notes and the grade, as annotations.

Mark it on the PDF

With «Mark», highlight, underline or strike through, add notes, text such as the final grade, or draw with the pencil. The corrections are saved in the PDF as annotations that the student sees in any viewer.

  • The signed document inside does not change, so the work can still be verified.
  • Upload the marked PDF to the platform as your feedback.

The verification report

A one-page PDF with the signature status, the document data, how it was written, the sessions and the flagged moments. Export it from the verification panel and attach it to the marking or the file.

  • The report and the panel give indications of how a document was written, not conclusive proof: the decision is always yours.
  • No level prevents a certificate holder from lending their certificate and PIN to someone else.

Your students install Closed Lite from the Microsoft Store and hand in a single file: the .closed or a PDF that carries it. No accounts, no servers, nothing to set up at the school.
